CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Snowplow Sam: 3 - 5 years of age; This pre-school class will be following the U.S. Figure Skating Snowplow Sam curriculum. The Snowplow Sam levels are designed to help the preschool age skater develop preliminary coordination and strength necessary to maneuver on the ice. Snow Plow Sam skaters are divided into two levels, beginning SPS Level 1 and continuing SPS levels 2 & 3.
Snow Plow Sam classes are the place to start for skaters who want to be Recreational, Hockey or Figure Skaters.

BASIC 1:  15 and under; The beginners class will follow the U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skills curriculum. The Basic Skills are the fundamentals of the sport. There are eight levels in the program that are designed to introduce the fundamental moves ? forward skating, backward skating, stops, edges, crossovers, turns and mohawks. Upon completion of the Basic 1-8 levels, skaters will have the basic knowledge of the sport enabling them to advance to the more specialized areas of skating.

*Skaters will be placed by the instructor at the appropriate skill level.

Basic 2 and up: All ages. The advanced class will follow the U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skills and Freestyle curriculum. The advanced classes are for those skaters who have previously attended the Basic Skills program or who have prior figure skating experience. All students will be placed in groups appropriate to their skill level.
Skaters should complete Basis 1 & Basic 2 before they chose to focus on Hockey, Figure or Recreational skating tracks.

ADULT: The adult class will follow the U.S. Figure Skating Adult curriculum. The adult curriculum is designed for the beginning adult skater. It will promote physical fitness and improve balance and coordination while learning proper skating techniques. The program is divided into four skill levels. Adult skaters will progress at an individual rate while being challenged and motivated. Adult classes may be combined if the skill levels of the skaters are similar.
