SKATE WITH
U.S.
PROGRAM
Welcome to the U.S. Figure
Skating Basic Skills Program. This program is available for
individuals ages 3 & up. It is a great opportunity for
individuals of any age who have an interest in skating.
This is a fabulous opportunity to learn a recreational
sport, begin a fitness program or the first steps in
pursuing a long-term skating career.
GROUP LESSONS Students will be
placed in groups by age and skill level.
Classes will be
taught by a professional and experienced staff
member.
If classes are
cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, an
effort will be made to reschedule the class or a
refund will be made.
However, no refunds or
make-ups will be issued for a missed class.
CLASS FEES
All classes will be
$130.00 for the 7 week session.
Weekly Classes are 30
minutes long.
All classes include a 30 minute practice session either before or after class.
Each student will be
given 7 public session passes to use for extra
practice
(skate rental included with punch).
Skate rental is
included with each weekly class.

CLASS
DESCRIPTIONS
Snowplow Sam: 3 - 5
years of age; This pre-school class will be following the
U.S. Figure Skating Snowplow Sam curriculum. The
Snowplow Sam levels are designed to help the
preschool age skater develop preliminary
coordination and strength necessary to maneuver on
the ice. Snow Plow Sam skaters are divided into two
levels, beginning SPS Level 1 and continuing SPS
levels 2 & 3. Snow Plow Sam classes are the place to start
for skaters who want to be Recreational, Hockey or
Figure Skaters.
BASIC
1: 15
and under; The beginners class will follow the U.S.
Figure Skating Basic Skills curriculum.
The Basic Skills are the fundamentals
of the sport. There are eight levels in the program
that are designed to introduce the fundamental moves
? forward skating, backward skating, stops, edges,
crossovers, turns and mohawks. Upon completion of
the Basic 1-8 levels, skaters will have the basic
knowledge of the sport enabling them to advance to
the more specialized areas of skating.
*Skaters will be placed by the instructor at the
appropriate skill level.
Basic
2 and up:
All ages. The advanced class will follow the
U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skills and Freestyle
curriculum. The advanced classes are for those
skaters who have previously attended the Basic
Skills program or who have prior figure skating
experience. All students will be placed in groups
appropriate to their skill level. Skaters should complete Basis 1 & Basic 2
before they chose to focus on Hockey, Figure or
Recreational skating tracks.
ADULT:
The adult class will follow the U.S.
Figure Skating Adult curriculum. The adult
curriculum is designed for the beginning adult
skater. It will promote physical fitness and improve
balance and coordination while learning proper
skating techniques. The program is divided into four
skill levels. Adult skaters will progress at an
individual rate while being challenged and
motivated. Adult classes may be combined if the
skill levels of the skaters are similar.
OTHER INFORMATION
Make sure that
skates fit as snug as possible and are laced
securely.
Please be ready on
time. Classes must start and end on time.
Be sure to dress
warm and comfortable and dress in layers for
example:
Sweatpants and
sweatshirts
Nylon wind suit
Sweaters and
turtlenecks
Gloves and
mittens
Coats and jackets
(be sure that they will not hinder movement)
